Thoughts on the big game
Submitted by Fantasy Football on Sun, 11/04/2007 - 10:21.
Today feels strangely like Super Bowl Sunday, with one big difference being that this game actually has fantasy implications.
The Patriots and Colts are both loaded with fantasy stars, and few owners will be brave/stupid enough to sit their studs in this game. However, this game has the potential to be a huge disappointment from a fantasy perspective.
Indy and New England both feature head coaches and quarterbacks whose game preparation are nearly legendary. Tony Dungy and Bill Belichick could both focus on playing ball control, running more than usual and throwing lots of short passes. They may also draw up big plays for lesser known players like Kenton Keith, Kevin Faulk, Jabar Gaffney or Anthony Gonzalez. Both Dungy and Belichick will try to thwart the other’s game plan and will place a lot of trust in their defenses.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, but I won’t be surprised at all to see less-than-stellar numbers from many of the Patriots and Indianapolis stars.
